Bio

Byron MacDonald accepted Christ at a Billy Graham meeting at the age of nine. He graduated
from Wheaton College with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 1966 and received his
Masters of Education from Michigan State University in 1973. He worked for a number of
years as a teacher and school administrator in both the Michigan and New York City School
Systems, and was being groomed for a top administrative position in Pontiac, Michigan, when
he sensed God’s call to a full-time ministry. He quit his job, moved his family to Colorado and
subsequently graduated with honors from Denver Seminary in 1981.

While in seminary, Byron preached at a small mission church in Parker, Colorado, that had an
average attendance of 40 individuals. It was there he discovered his gifts of pastor-teacher and
leadership. The church called him to the position of senior pastor and in the nearly nine years
he served, it grew to 600 members, including many who came to know the Lord under Pastor
MacDonald’s ministry.

During this time Byron MacDonald was ordained by the Baptist General Conference. In 1989,
he was called to the First Baptist Church of Yucaipa, California, and in three years the church’s
attendance doubled to twelve hundred.

Pastor MacDonald and his wife, Lynda, also a gifted Bible teacher, live in San Pedro,
California. They have two grown children. Their son Jonathan is himself a pastor and is married to Lindsey (previously
McConnell). Daughter Jennifer, is married to Brian Hall and is the mother of three children.

Pastor MacDonald began his ministry at Rolling Hills Covenant Church in 1992.

In addition to pastoring one of the largest churches of the Evangelical Covenant denomination, Rev.
MacDonald is a national conference and seminar speaker; he has been involved in missions
tours to Russia, Israel and Kazakhstan. He conducted a seminar for Christian workers in India
in February 1995 and was the featured speaker on biblical tours of Israel and Greece in 1995
and 1998.

He has a great love and passion to preach and teach the Bible, and help others come to know
God intimately through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
